Mrs. Tanya Alvarez

Welcome to Kindergarten in Room 20!
Our focus for the literacy initiative during the year is to introduce students to predicting, characters, setting, problem, and solution.  As we continue to focus on the literacy initiative into February and March, we are focusing our studies on problem/solution and retelling. Students should know that a problem is when there is something wrong in the story and the solution is how that problem gets fixed.  Students should be able to recall events in a story in the correct sequence: beginning, middle, and end.
I want to remind parents that homework will be due every Friday. Parents, please be sure to monitor your children during the time they do homework. Although homework is intended to be review, it is important that you guide them when needed and continue to make sure that their work is neat.  Also, please remember to read to your child for at least 20 minutes every night and practicing eveything on your blue homework folder.  If you have any questions regarding the homework or your child's progress, please feel free to speak with me.

Thank you,
Mrs. Alvarez
